The Prairie Center of the Arts is less than three hours from both Chicago and St. Louis. The main facilities are near the Illinois River in a 115 year-old, 90,000 square foot building which served as a rope factory until the late 1960s.  The facility will soon undergo a major renovation to make it accessible to the community and to preserve this one-of-a-kind historic structure for future generations. Warehouse Gallery One, is a 6,000 square feet space, currently being used for exhibitions and installations.

The Prairie Center of the Arts Home in Germantown Hills serves as the residency retreat and houses guest artists 20 minutes from the Peoria facility. This property features 50 wooded acres, five bedrooms, five bathrooms, three studios, and Wi-fi.

Prairie Center of the Arts was founded in 2003 as a juried Artist in Residency (AIR) program to attract emerging and established artists from Illinois and around the world;  to provide these artists and local artists with
opportunities for research and development of new work in collaboration with machining professionals and others;  to provide an accessible facility for art and creativity that embraces the Peoria area community offering equipment and new technologies not currently available to the general public.
